What is inner fillet aloe juice?

Inner fillet aloe is made from the clear gel inside the aloe leaf, with the outer rind and the latex layer removed. Whole leaf aloe juice, by contrast, is made by processing the entire leaf including the rind. The inner fillet is the part of the plant most people picture when they think of aloe gel, and it's what goes into this bottle.

What is aloin, and is this aloin free?

Aloin is a bitter yellow compound found in the latex layer just beneath the aloe leaf's outer rind. Because Lakewood Pure Aloe is made from the inner fillet with the latex removed, it is aloin free, containing less than 2ppm aloin. That specification is on the label.

What's the difference between inner fillet and whole leaf aloe?

It comes down to which part of the plant is used. Inner fillet juice uses only the clear inner gel. Whole leaf juice uses the entire leaf, rind and all, and is then filtered. Inner fillet aloe is milder in taste and naturally lower in aloin. When comparing any two aloe juices, check whether the label says inner fillet or whole leaf, and look for a stated aloin level.

What does aloe juice taste like?
